Drew and Brody's First Birthday

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

October it a big month for us as our twins Drew and Brody just turned ONE !!! We had a big First Bday for them, it was a beautiful October day ( Just a day before the Fires in Southern CA started) Mark and I rented the FlintRidge clubhouse for them.. the Covenant Hills one was taken :( but anyways i had never rented this clubhouse out.. but I really liked it..

Here is there Invitation... Which I loved I couldn't believe how great they turned out... they took a bunch of pictures that I sent them and drew out the two of them as cartoon characters.. I sent them pictures of there outfits and hair bow everything.. it looked exactly like what they looked like on there big day...

I had some pictures of them taken before the party just in case they ruined there outfits.. they turned out so cute...

We started at 8am to get this party going.. We packed the kids up in the car.. which I packed the night before with all the decoration stuff and brought there big playpen to put them in while we get ready and off we go to get things ready.. I worked the night before on carving out 8 big pumpkins for the center pieces.. my mom got me this electric cutter- it broke at the end but very cool.. and I was so happy because they looked great on the tables..

I had the balloons dropped off to the clubhouse.. and when they arrived they guy said I have a little bad news for you - I thought here we go.. he said that they popped two of my balloons.. which by the way I special ordered from them because the store didn't stock them.. but I just smiled and nodded.. he did replace them with two other balloon's so I just put those two outside.. I wasn't going to let that ruin my day.. the time really fly's by when your getting ready for something.. I really thought that I was going to have time to get everything done on time.. anyways back to the set up.. Mark aka Daddy and I started by rearranging all the furniture and setting up all the tables and chairs.. then after that was done he left me to go pick up the sandwiches from Togo's and ice.. while he was gone I was putting table clothes on and setting up the balloons.. ect.. then it hit me, at 10:30am.. that I am running out of time and that I wasn't going to have time to pick up the smash cakes and cupcakes for the party.. so my sister aka Auntie Jamie and Uncle Mike came to help.. they went to Frenches Bakery and got the stuff for me and dropped it off just in time.. anyways in the meantime Nana Darlene was watching Drew and Brody at our house so they could nap before the big day.. and I continued to get ready for the party.. I had 15 minutes to leave the party go home grab the kids - get them dressed- get myself dressed..touch up my makeup, ect.. and get back to the party before it started.. The party started at 1pm.. and we got there at 12:58pm.. I couldn't believe it.. I had the AC blowing full blast to cool me off from all the running around, but just look at how wonderful everything looked.. it was worth it and thank god they only have One First Birthday ...

I got these Balloons that spelled out there name.. you can see them on that back wall....
Look at how beautiful it was that day.. not a cloud in the sky.. I cant believe it went from this to the black skys due to the Southern California Fires within less than 24 hours....
Well like I said we all were dressed and ready for the party by 1pm.. Here is our family shot on your big day..

Its not a perfect shot - however if you take all the shots that I took and put them all together at one point you could see all of the kids faces.. hehehe so this shot will do...

We got an Elmo pinata.. they didn't have a Zoe one.. Owell- but we had both Drew and Brody pull the strings to open it up instead of having 24 kids line up for a shot.. It was cute they had a good time pulling it open and then the candy fell.....
and the kids went Nutz......... Candy .. Candy.. Candy..

Cake Smashing Time... I forgot to finish setting up this area.. so I through on the One Birthday decorations.. and tried to make them wear there hats that I got for them.. and of course I forgot matches to light the candle's.. but anyways.. I rushed everything together and here it is.. So it started out with Drew and Brody really well.. we sang Happy Birthday and then let the fun begin - Right.....

PS.. How cute did there smash cakes turn out.. OMG.. I was So Happy when I saw them.. they were perfect.. Anyways....

It looks as if Brody is really enjoying himself here.. he is tasting the cake and not hating it.. THEN... it happened- Brody got MAD...

Then he got REALLY MAD.....

After we got home... I started to wonder why Brody got so mad at the cake.. out of nowhere so I watched the tape.. and then it hit me... At home when either Brody or Drew would through there food I would say No... and Brody being very sensitive would cry and stop.. Well on the tape you can see what went wrong.. all of the kids were excited and yelling to them GO.. over and over again... He thought they were telling him to stop and got confused.. you can see it in his eye's as they teared up in the video... I felt bad after that..

Now onto my little princess Drew...She on the other hand loved it.. and didn't seem to care to much over Brody's melt down...

Drew just looked like such a little girl.. she enjoyed herself until the end.. she just took little bits of the cake and didn't get to messy..you can scroll down for some cute shots of her....

So after the cake smashing time Nana Darlene took you Brody into the bathroom and cleaned you all up.. the bathroom was a mess..... hehehe paper towels and water everywhere with cake on them.. but your Nana worked really hard on getting it all off of you .. and then she asked me where your towel and clothes and new diaper was.. and that's when it hit me.. I didn't plan on any of that stuff...diaper, towel and outfit I said.. so I ran out to the car and I remembered I got you dressed here for the party so I will put you back into that outfit.. diapers.. I have those in the car and out of nowhere a towel appeared in the back of my car.. so I ran all this stuff back into the girls bathroom and then I hear ... Mark calling me.. So I went out side and then he asked me for Drew's stuff.. that he had her in the boys bathroom with Cody.. DAM...

After running back outside to my car again, I grabbed Drew's stuff but I don't have another towel so I ran back to the girls bathroom grabbed the towel from Darlene then ran into the boys bathroom to help Cody and Mark get Drew ready... OMG.. It was a lot of work I will tell you that much- But again worth it....


After this we started to pack everything up.. Nana Claire, Papa Jim, Nana Darlene, and Papa Bill, Uncle Mike, Auntie Jamie, Uncle James and Auntie Chandra and Norma and Yvette and Cody all started picking up things and helping to get this place back together.. I was so Thankful for all there help... Papa Bill stacked up his truck, daddy Marks truck, Cody helped me stack up my car and we were off to our house.. Papa Bill and Nana Darlene and Cody came back to our house, Nana helped me give Drew and Brody a bath and get them ready for bed and Papa Bill, Cody and Daddy Mark cleaned the high chairs all up and put everything away.. we all sat down and relaxed after that.. Nana Claire and Papa Jim stopped by after to help to.. but thankfully it was all done.. We decided that they can open there gifts tomorrow afternoon..
